Once again another fun, exciting and rewarding project for the Waterbury Historical Society and their curator, Jack Carter. Jack saved this entry door from the old train building in Waterbury with the intent of doing something special with it one day. When the idea of sprucing up the Amtrak waiting room in Waterbury came to fruition, Jack had quite the idea for this historical door. Turning this door into a display table with a shadow box and cabinet space below has made this waiting room one of a kind.
The display table was fabricated out of new material, other than the door, with the intent of making it look as aged as the trunk you see below. This trunk was used to transport goods on trains long ago. To achieve this look there was a 4 part finishing process followed by using hand cut tack nails to resemble the way the trunks were fabricated.
